THE BLACK CORSAIRS

Blood and Thunder!

Captains, ships and crews

Belegarth utilizes a system of Realms and units, where the Realm is a collection of smaller units (most of the times completely different from one another) fighting under one banner.

In the lands of Umbar (realm) you have the freedom to choose what you wish to be. The corsair units are referred to as corsair ships, each one with it's own captain. If you wish to join Umbar, there are several things you can do:

 - You can join one of the existing corsair ship crews.

 - You can start your own ship.

 - You can start your own unit (not corsair themed).

 - You can fight as a Freeman (Mercenary).

Becoming a crew member

So, you are interested in joining a corsair crew? There's a few things you must do first:

 - A signed waiver (provided by your local Captain). In case you are under 18 years old, you must have a waiver signed by your parents or guardian.

 - Basic understanding of the rules of combat (ask any of the Corsairs for advice).

 - Loaner weapons are available on the field.

 - Wear comfortable clothes for exercise.

Becoming a Black Corsair

All new ship members are considered corsairs or crew mates. To become a Black Corsair however, you will need to meet a few requirements:

 - A recommendation by one of the Captains.

 - Successfully win 300 duels (not necessarily in one single day).

 - Defeat the Black Corsairs in a Barreling trial.

The Barreling

A fine tradition started by House Hellhammer.

The Barreling consists of several Black Corsairs, lining up in a straight line, usually with the Captain at the last post.

The initiate must fight his way down the line all the way to the Captain of the ship he's petitioning under, defeating everyone in turn. If the petitioner gets defeated by a barreler, they must keep trying until they win. If a barreler defeats a petitioner 5 times, they can choose to bypass them to continue down the line. This applies to all the line except the Captain, who must be defeated in order to become a Black Corsair.

Starting your own ship

- You must live in an area where a corsair ship doesn't exist, or reach an agreement with the local Captain.

 - Recruit your crew

 - Follow the Code (read about the Code at the Historian's Quarters)

Starting your own unit

You and your friends love combat, but are not too sure about being pirates? No worries, you can start your own unit with any theme you like.

Knights, Goblins, Orcs, Ogres, Samurais, Ninjas, Islanders, Vikings, Hobbits, Elves, Dwarves... you name it! The possibilities are endless. You have the freedom to start any unit you like.

We ask but one thing from you: Let us know what you are planning to do so we can both make sure there are no conflicts with existing units in the area (we can always work something out) and add your history to the lore of Umbar.

Becoming a Freeman (Mercenary)

Although we encourage the idea of groups of friends fighting together, there are times when you either don't like someone, don't like the unit's themes, belong to a unit from another existing game or you are a loner by nature. This doesn't mean you cannot fight with or against us.

Simply label yourself a Freeman and fight alongside whoever gives you the most benefits (It can be anything from who shares his water, his car ride, has prettier loaner weapons or any other reason you like except exchanging real money) or stand your ground by yourself on the field.

Any way you want to see it, we welcome you on the field.

Dagorhir, Amtgard, NERO, Hacs and others

We are all more or less the same. Being from another game does not mean we are automatically enemies. We welcome variety on the field and encourage a culture of cross-overs amongst organizations that will broaden everyone's horizons.

We respect individuality and words like "malicious recruiting" are non-existing in our fields. Everyone in Umbar is free to choose their own path.

So, if you belong to any combat sport other than Belegarth, know that you are welcome on the field anytime, as long as you behave yourself according to Parque Central's rules of conduct.
